VLC4IPHONE UPDATE:
Aight you guys made it again, and once again thanks for what you guys did. Like I said here's an updated version of vlc4iphone. This is for 2.0+ users. Ummmm I think that's it, read the HUGE UPDATE below.

(By clicking on this link you are confirming that you are a "Beta Tester" at ZodTTD.com)
Just because this new version looks the same that does not mean it is... Some bugs were took out, I don't know which one's but he did...
Download vlc4iphone0.9.9

HUGE UPDATE:
In two weeks or so, this place will have about 900+ apps on it free to download. Might take a little longer though, it takes a lot of work to get 900+ apps up on a site!!!

No, this is an updated version, it just looks the same. Some bugs were fixed, look at Zottd's site to see the bugs he took out. And if you read I put the info about the HUGE update below the vlc4iphone download link.

look, I compared vcl files from this link and from 09/22 link, they are identical except its date/time now it's 8/12 not 9/19. what bugs have been fixed since Monday if all files are the same????

err - Sunday - 9/21
I performed binary comparison of vcl files

What about the vlc4iphone v1.0.0 Beta. Early initial build released. ? I thought that's what we would get

small but very important update has been made to the vlc4iphone beta.

All beta testers of vlc4iphone should update!

Here's what is new in vlc4iphone v0.9.9 BETA:

A bug was fixed that prevented many users from playing most their files! If a file didn't play before, be sure to try now!
The bug preventing iPod Touch users from changing the volume has been fixed.
This update is highly recommended, as most files were being skipped in a playlist, played out of sync, or not played at all!

Next up...a gpSPhone update,
ZodTTD

Ok, leo or anyone else, if you don't believe me for whatever reason then why don't you just not download it...

Microelite7711, can't you download both archives yourself, compare files yourself, make a binary comparison of VLC file yourself? why is "new" VLC file's date 8/12/08 and the one from 9/21 is 9/19/08 while they're identical?

hopefully this player will be great though. I tried it on couple avi files successfully, but without user controls like scrolling through the movie and saving file/position on exit, it is pretty much useless. stupid iPod application is useless too, it does not save file/position either if it closed or device rebooted

how are u guys even using the app, i still do not see the icon on the homescreen. Could not use the previous version either. Why not put this app on cydia so it has a proper install process?

Anonymous said...

liquidsmoke, are you following the instructions?
-copy files vlc4iphone.app to /private/var/stash/Applications
-set recursevly permissions of vlc4iphone.app to 777
-reboot
don't know what is simplier than that
I personaly don't use VLC app, hope to be able to wait till actual release. cannot use stupid iPod app either.

Ok I tried v.1.00 & v. 0.99
V 1.00 is useless for streaming , no control settings ! or at least I cannot find them.
It has a radio tuner built in and local file access.
Every page loads with adds.

V 0.99 is simpler but works somewhat better, has minimal user accessible controls and can do internet streaming.
Uninstalled V1.00 and went back to 0.99, less adds too!

I forgot , if you could come up with
a vlc plugin for mobile safari ( like in the full size version) it will make vlc4Iphone enormously useful !!!!!

Hi, I've installed this app on a iphone 3g 2.1
The app works but when i load a video, the sound is perfect but the video is very slow. even if i change serttings in the app. Anyone has encounter this problem ?
Is my video file too big (200Mo)
.
Good job by the way

Yeah, so I think this is a dead dud. Questions not properly answered, no clear and concise website. no FRACKING landscape. Updates that contain the same files as the last build, BIG YAWN! Try again! Is there some magical force that is preventing a unified video player that plays all the popular formats!? I think so!

Brandenwan said...

Bleh, what a waste. I transferred a sample video over and guess what FAILURE! It was the first episode of Supernatural encoded in Divx. It played the first 3 seconds and boom!
Somehow Im not surprised. Im uninstalling this POS immediately.

For those of you who can't seem to make the vlc icon to show on the springboard try doing this:

- Launch the SBS panel. (if you dont have SBSsettings installed see this tutorial http://www.zodttd.com/wiki/index.php/SSH. Install it and swipe the status bar to reveal it. Push the "Respring" button in the window. This will refresh the springboard and hopefully reveal the vlc icon on the springboard. Hope this works.

Good luck.

Since this is based on GPL code, have you made the source code available? If you have where can we download it from?

Project information and source code is available here: http://www.zodttd.com/wiki/index.php/Vlc4iphone
